Brunel Girls Can! Students run glitter mile in celebration of #ThisGirlCanWeek

The students of Brunel glittered up on Friday 23rd November as they prepared to sprint, jog or walk one mile around the university campus in honour of ‘#ThisGirlCanWeek’.
This was just one of a long line of activities set last week in honour of the campaign that promotes sport amongst women. This event aimed to raise money for Team Brunel Abroad’s volunteer scheme taking place in June 2019.
A total of 40 runners took part and each sported a pastel pink ‘This Girl Can’ shirt. Runners who donated any amount of money had glitter applied to their faces.
In total, £30 was raised for Team Brunel Abroad. This will enable them to work with Bali Sports Foundation (BSF), a charity dedicated to supporting disabled athletes and children in Bali, Indonesia.
Students taking part in Team Brunel Abroad will be assisting with BSF’s Para and Boccia games as well as Bali 4’s wheelchair rugby. They will also be volunteering at some of the foundation’s projects.
