Fly-tipping and littering is a non-stop problem in West London areas, including Hillingdon, Hounslow and Southall.

A report published in 2009 by the GMB union found an unacceptable amount of waste materials and litter in the streets of Hillingdon.

Residents complain that rubbish dumping has led to a surge in the number of rats in the area.

Hillingdon resident Paramjit Thind, 44, said: “I see rats running around on the pavements because of the

litter.

“Also, [a] fox can come [and]they tear the bags and all the food is spread on the road, diseases can spread”.
