Tributes pour in for former Harefield Academy students who died in Hayes

Thousands of pounds have been raised in memory of three teenage boys who died after a car crashed near a bus stop in Hayes.

The boys, who are believed to have been standing near the bus stop at the time, have been named as Harry Rice, 17, George Wilkinson, 16, and Josh McGuinness, 16. All three were students at the Harefield Academy.

A 'gofundme' campaign has since been set up by one of the boys' relatives, to help raise funds towards a memorial for the teenagers, with the remaining money going towards their funeral. So far it has raised £1140, exceeding the goal of £400.

Another campaign to help raise funds for the funeral was also set up by a local resident, raising a total of £5415 so far.

Facebook event pages have also been set up by local residents, and tomorrow (2nd February) residents, family and friends will take to Harefield Green to release balloons in memory of the boys.

On 18th February, a charity football tournament will also be held at Goals in Heathrow. All three boys were avid fans of the sport.

The boys were said to be on their way to a friend's birthday party when a car is believed to have collided with them near a bus stop along Shepiston Lane, Hayes. Flowers and tributes have since been left at the scene.

Tash Moriarty, Headteacher at the Harefield Academy, said in a statement: “We are all shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of three students who attended The Harefield Academy. Our thoughts and condolences are with their families, friends and loved ones at this terrible time.

“We are offering help and support to all students and staff who have been affected by this incident, and ask everyone to respect their privacy at this difficult time.

“I would like to thank the Harefield community for the support it has given over the weekend.”
